With unemployment up in NC, so is the number of people trying to cheat the system.According to published reports, investigators with the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina found more than $13 million in fraudulent overpayments last year.

The state believes it has paid out more than $52 million over the past five years and has only been able to recover about half the amount.

One concern they say is a shortage of investigators.
