Pregnant woman allegedly tries to rob bank

Cell phone interrupts robbery
FAYETTEVILLE The incident happened around 9:43 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Police say a teller at the Carter Bank & Trust on 123 Rowan Street was approached by a woman who walked up to the counter with a note, produced a handgun and demanded money.

The suspect did not collect any money from the teller, because she was distracted when her phone rang and began talking to the caller. The woman then left the bank without taking any money. No one was hurt.

The suspect is described as a pregnant, light-skinned, black woman, in her late 20s to early 30s. She was wearing a knee length dark colored skirt and a multicolored scarf on her head.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at (910) 433-1856.
