Sheriff Pat Green said he believes the threats are "serious" and "valid." He said his office has received several calls and tips from the public, reporting the threats and a bounty on Bishop's head. Green will not disclose the amount of the bounty reported to his office.

"Several different gang members have put out a hit on him basically because of this death," Sheriff Green said.

Green said his office is hearing that the victim, 19-year-old Gabrielle Reece, used to date a gang member, but he will not reveal which gangs are allegedly involved. However, he said the gangs are ones the public would likely recognize by name.

Bishop is expected to make his first court appearance on Thursday.

He surrendered to authorities late Tuesday. Detectives say he murdered Reece Sunday morning.

Investigators say Bishop pointed a gun at Reece and asked her if she was scared.

When she said no, he allegedly pulled the trigger.

Christopher Rose, 21, is charged with being an accessory after the fact. Investigators say he tried to help Bishop cover up the crime.
