A South Korean farm equipment manufacturer will open a facility in Nash County, creating 134 jobs. Local and state officials said LS Tractor USA plans to invest $14 million to open a distribution facility in a business park in Battleboro, north of Rocky Mount.

Manufacturing may be added later.

The state offered the company a grant of more than $1 million, payable over nine years if the company meets job creation targets.

Currently, the unemployment rate in Nash County is more than 13 percent.

Jobs at the facility are expected to pay an average wage of more than $41,000 a year. The area's average wage is about $32,000.
