Cary, Cumberland crime alerts

There are crime alerts in Cary and Cumberland County after a rash of break-ins. In Cary, police say they've seen at least five incidents near High House Road and Davis Drive in the last week.

Crooks are targeting unlocked cars. Stolen items include GPS units, purses, cameras and cash.

Police are looking for a suspect and possible accomplice. They're also reminding people to report suspicious people or activity near their homes.

Further south in Cumberland County, deputies have issued a crime alert for Hope Mills and Spring Lake.

Investigators say thieves are breaking into vehicles in subdivisions and apartment complexes in search of valuables. Last week, several were targeted in those communities and law enforcement officials are asking residents to be proactive in helping stop this crime.

They say:

· Lock your car doors.

· Remove all valuables.

· Park your vehicle in a well lighted area.
