Evans Jermaine Jones, 27, was arrested Wednesday afternoon. He's charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
According to investigators, the Kennedys met Jones several days prior to the attack. Tuesday, the couple allowed him to enter their home around 1:15 p.m. and that's when police say Jones attacked the married couple.
While in the home, police say Jones cut the Kennedys near their throats and stole some property before leaving. The brutal attack has left friends and neighbors stunned.
"It makes me angry as hell," neighbor James Ervolino said.
Ervolino has known the couple 30 years. He says he was eating lunch when the woman banged on his door.
"She had a towel or something under her neck, and she was covered in blood, so I knew something very, very bad had happened," he said.
"They are just nice folks, and to know that something like this happens to someone you see every day, is distressing," neighbor Steve Trank said.
The Kennedys are in stable condition.
