Man wanted for killing soldier at nightclub

SPRING LAKE Detectives say gunshots were fired inside the Jamaican Restaurant and Lounge in Spring Lake, shortly after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 29.

Charles Clements, 27, was killed and his friend, 26-year-old Arthur Mwebe, was seriously injured.

Demar J. Bryan, 22, is charged with shooting both soldiers. Clements was assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, and had recently returned from deployment in Afghanistan. Mwebe is a Fort Bragg soldier.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Bryan is a known drug dealer and a member of the Jamaican community. Also, he is known to change hairstyles, which drastically changes his appearance.

Investigators say neither of the soldiers knew the suspect prior to the shooting and were not involved or connected to any drug activity involving the suspect.

Authorities say Bryan is very violent and is a threat to the public, so it is important that he is apprehended as soon as possible.

If you see Bryan, do not approach him. Anyone with information should call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500 or (910) 484-TIPS (8477). All calls on the TIPSLINE can remain anonymous.
