High school stripped of basketball title

GREENSBORO The North Carolina High School Athletic Association withdrew North Guilford High School's title because it used ineligible players.

According to a Greensboro newspaper, the school used two players who should not have attended the school. NCHSAA Director Rick Strunk said school officials reported the problem to the league.

The school system will not renew coach Stan Kowalewski's contract and other teams are under review.

School officials say five Northern students playing on four teams were ineligible, based on the high school association's residency rules.
