The new facility is located at 175 Bain Drive, behind the Harnett County Courthouse on U.S. 401 in Lillington.
According to the Harnett County Detention Center website, the jail is a one-story structure made of concrete and steel.
There are a total of 84 beds that are broken into four cell blocks.
Two blocks have 20-bed, four man cells and the other two blocks have single cells with a total of 11 beds.
There are six isolation cells and eight additional cells that house female prisoners.
The detention center is 24-7 hour a day facility that operates seven days a week. It is staffed with 27 officers. Twenty of those are full-time employees while the others are part-time.
The jail's kitchen is staffed with five cooks who prepare three hot meals a day.
And if someone needs medical attention, there is an on-site medical unit that has two nurses.
