Woman allegedly stole 240 pairs of shoes

GARNER Garner police charged 21-year-old Wendy Jennifer Beret Luna of Raleigh Tuesday afternoon. They say she took at least 240 pairs of shoes over a six-month period.

Luna worked at the Shoe Show on Fayetteville Road in Garner. Store officials said the stolen shoes had a value of $5,595.

Apparently, Luna didn't keep the shoes for herself. According to Sgt. Chris Clayton, she gave them to "friends and friends of friends."

Luna is charged with one felony count of embezzlement.
