Duke head football coach David Cutcliffe announced on Friday that safety Zack Asack has been dismissed from the program, effective immediately. He said it was for a violation of team policy, but didn't elaborate.

Asack, a 6-4, 205-pound redshirt senior from Westwood, Mass., moved from quarterback to safety prior to spring practice this year.

He played in 26 career games with seven starts under center, completing 123-of-250 passes for 1,168 yards with seven touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also rushed 154 times for 290 yards and four scores.
