Durham police are asking the public for information about an attempted armed robbery that happened last Friday at Los Primos Supermarket on east Main Street. Police say a man entered the store shortly before 2:30 p.m. and went to the customer service counter. They say he showed an employee a gun in his waistband and demanded money.

The employee said he told the suspect he would have to get the money from the office. But, the suspect fled without taking anything after he saw the employee get a gun from the office.

The suspect was wearing safety goggles, a white dust mask, a white UNC baseball cap with "Heels" on the front, a gray T-shirt, light-colored jeans and work boots. He left in a gray, two-door Buick Regal.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Rogers at 560-4935, ext. 29416 or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
