Ericsson said it notified employees more than a month ago. The workers will leave in phases between Aug. 7 and Dec. 31.
The company said it is consolidating operations because of declining sales.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK According to the News & Observer, the company is laying off 167 workers by the end of that year. That will leave less than two dozen employees at the plant.
