Dr. Bill Rutala, UNC director of Hospital Epidemiology and Occupational Health, said Thursday there are three more confirmed cases of H1N1 in the Triangle. All of the cases were diagnosed over the past two days at three separate facilities.

In addition to those cases, he said there are 27 new probable cases at UNC Health Care.

Dr. Rutala said most of the probable patients initially visited UNC Health Care through the Emergency Department/Emergency Pediatrics. The others went to at Chapel Hill North Pediatric Clinic and Pittsboro Family Medicine.

One case was admitted to UNC Health Care and all of the others were evaluated and discharged.

To date, none of the health care workers at those locations have tested positive for H1N1.

Wednesday Chatham county officials confirmed three cases of the virus. Two of those cases are students at Horton Middle School in Pittsboro.

Johnston County also announced four confirmed cases of H1N1 in one adult and three children.
