According to police, 40-year-old Julie Miller of Mt. Pleasant, SC was driving the vehicle that sped into town and never braked. She lost control of her four-door Saturn and slammed into two motorcycles as they were turning into a gas station.
One of the bike's passengers, Virginia C. Locklear of Lumberton, died instantly. The driver of the bike was critically injured.
Marie D. Locklear of Pembroke, who was alone on the other bike, was killed.
Miller is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.
She is being held at the Robeson County Jail under $1.25 million bond.
According to police, Hunt told officers she couldn't recall the crash but tested negative for alcohol and drugs. Investigators are trying to find out why she was in Robeson County.
