Price to park at RDU goes up

RALEIGH The rate will double from $1 to $2 per hour. The daily rate, however, stays the same: $10. The price to park in short term parking also stays the same: $1 per hour up to a max of $24 a day.

Airport managers say they're making the change to try and discourage people from short stays in the long term section so that there are more spots available for travelers who leave their vehicles at the airport for days at a time.

A new rate structure for RDU's park and ride lots will also go into effect Wednesday. The new rate will be a flat fee of $6 per day. Currently, the rate in the park and ride lots is $1 per hour with a daily maximum of $6 per day.
