Police said a fight erupted shortly after the club closed. Moments later, they said an unknown number of people began shooting in the parking lot.
When police arrived at the scene, they found 27-year-old Christopher Clark lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Clark was working as a security guard for the Broad Street Café and was in the parking lot during the shooting.
Police said a second victim, whose name has not been released, suffered a flesh wound to his lower leg.
