The man told police that the suspect shot at him and ran inside his apartment and shut the door.
The victim was not injured in the shooting.
When police were called to the scene, they spotted a suspicious vehicle and attempted to stop it.
The suspect, later identified as Lorfils, fled the vehicle and escaped. Authorities said they found the weapon used in the attempted robbery in the area that Lorfils ran.
Two other people in the vehicle, 16-year-old Jasmine Lashay Lassiter and 16-year-old Tasheona Dane Sanders, fled the scene with the vehicle.
Police arrested both teens and charged them with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Investigators have warrants charging Lorfils with two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
