Fort Bragg to add alcohol restrictions

FORT BRAGG According to a Fort Bragg newspaper, starting next month alcohol will not be sold from 2 to 7 a.m. on Monday through Saturday. It also won't be sold before noon on Sundays.

Alcohol sales to soldiers who appear to be intoxicated will also be banned.

It's part of an effort to prevent suicides and abuse, as well as improve health among troops.

Officials said alcohol was involved in 50 percent of Fort Bragg's suicides in 2008 and 2009.

Despite the new restrictions, there will be no limit on the amount of alcoholic beverages a soldier can buy during a purchase.
