Pick blueberries at UNC coach's home

BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. For a mere $5 a gallon, you can pick from about 200 bushes. According to the Asheville Citizen-Times, payment is on the honor system.

Hatchell's only request is that pickers honor her request and send payment to the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chapel Hill.

Her cabin is located in the woods halfway between Black Mountain and Lake Lure.

Hatchell has an 812-282 record in 34 seasons of coaching, including a 540-202 record during 23 years in Chapel Hill.

She had cancer scare nine years ago when tumors were found on her ovaries. They turned out to be benign.

Hatchell decided to spread the word about Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, using blueberries as a fundraising tool.
