Prior to that position, Lassiter was the principal of Southern Lee High School for three years. Before that he was the principal of Perquimans County High School for two years.
Lassiter is no stranger to Hillside. He began his career at the school in the early 1990s as a social studies teacher.
"This is an honor because I began my career as a teacher at Hillside, and it is a dream come true to be able to come home and work with many of the professionals who I remember from that time," Lassiter said. "I have monitored Hillside's achievements and their challenges and am very happy to see that the school met expected growth this year. I am excited to be part of Hillside's continued upward mobility."
