Men get life sentences in crack-ring

Abingdon, Va Prosecutors say 26-year-old Paul Alston Vaughn Jr. of Burlington, N.C., and 38-year-old Douglas Lee Stallworth of Bristol, Va., were sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Abingdon, Va.

Both were convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine.

Prosecutors say Vaughn and Stallworth were involved in a drug-trafficking ring organized by members of a music production company based in Burlington, N.C. It operated in southwest Virginia, northeast Tennessee and North Carolina.

The U.S. attorney's office says 49 people have been convicted in the case and three are awaiting sentencing.
