Day care closed due to fire

DURHAM Officials told Eyewitness News that a man dropping off supplies at the Toddler's Academy on Beechwood Drive noticed smoke coming from the building just after 7 a.m. Saturday morning and called 911.

The Fire Department was on scene for about two and a half hours trying to put out the blaze.

A cause for the fire has not been determined, but it is not considered suspicious.

The blaze is thought to have started in the front office of the day care, but there is smoke and fire damage throughout the building.

Firefighters said there was some work to be done and the day care will likely not be open on Monday.
