Prisoner fakes illness, escapes

ROBESON COUNTY The sheriff's office says 18-year-old Jamal Antonio McRae complained of chest pains around 11:26 p.m. Tuesday night. As a detention deputy was taking him to get medical attention, McRae jumped the officer and got out of the building.

He was last seen wearing an orange jump suit and tennis shoes.

McRae has a substantial criminal history - including charges of rape, kidnapping, and armed robbery. He was in jail awaiting trial for attempted murder, kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Deputies say McRae should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call 911 right away.
