Holly Springs officer injured

HOLLY SPRINGS The call came in just before midnight, after a man was reportedly stabbed in the abdomen on the 700 block of South Main Street.

When officers arrived, they apparently found two women fighting at the location - one of them, the mother of the man who was stabbed.

Sgt. Paul Creek attempted to break up the the fight, but that's when police say the injured man, Michael Shane George, got up and jumped on the officer. The officer then fell through a window at the home, sustaining multiple cuts and bruises.

Sgt. Creek suffered lacerations on his face and was taken to WakeMed. He received liquid stitches to his left eye area and was released from the hospital.

Authorities said George attacked Sgt. Creek as he was trying to arrest George's mother.

Police have not said who stabbed George or released information on the extent of his injuries.

George has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and resisting/obstructing a public official. His bond is set at $16,000.

He is scheduled to be in court for his first appearance on Monday afternoon.
