Woman jumps from bridge during rushhour

CARY Cary police said the woman jumped off of the Kildaire Farm Road bridge onto the shoulder of southbound US 1/64 during rush hour traffic.

The outer lane had to be closed and traffic was flowing through the area with some delays. The road was reopened a short time later.

Police said the unidentified woman was transported to WakeMed Raleigh. Her condition and the extent of her injuries are not known at this time.

Authorities said they believed she was trying to kill herself.
