They said his wife was unable to get him out by herself.
Twenty-four units were damaged in the fire and the buildings were not equipped with sprinklers although they had smoke detectors.
The Red Cross is helping feed and house the residents whose homes were damaged.
The fire is still under investigation and authorities have not said what caused the blaze.
