Apex man cuts deal in sex crime case

An Apex business man will spend five weekends in jail after cutting a deal in a child sex crimes case.Richard Ahmed pleaded guilty in a Wake County courtroom Tuesday. He admitted to taking indecent liberties with a minor and soliciting a child by computer.

The 48-year-old was caught in an internet sting last year trying to lure a 14-year-old girl. The girl was actually a Raleigh police officer posing as a girl.

Ahmed is the former co-owner of an Apex sports complex that attracted many children.
