Women killed in Orange Co. crash identified

ORANGE COUNTY

An SUV driven by 39-year-old Susan Beasley-Tamer of Williamson, GA was T-boned on Guess Road at the intersection of NC 57 in the Caldwell community. A passenger in the SUV - 61-year-old Jane McCrary Beasley of Brooks, GA - also died.

The crash happened just after 10 a.m.

Authorities believe the women may not have known the road well because they were from out of state.

According to a Highway Patrol officer, Beasley-Tamer ran a stop sign just before her Jeep Cherokee was hit by a pick-up truck. The SUV then flipped and landed in a ditch.

The pick-up driver was seriously hurt. He is identified as 23-year-old Timothy James Whitfield.

The local fire chief told ABC11 Eyewitness News changes are needed at the intersection. He said there are three to five fatal wrecks there a year.
