Authorities say they're investigating one of their own for possible wrong doing, but that's about all they're saying.Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez acknowledges that there is a criminal probe, however, he does not name the officer or describe any allegations.

The chief is also not indicating if the officer is currently working on the job with a badge and a gun.

Chief Lopez only released a five sentence statement Tuesday afternoon that said in part, "the Durham Police Department is conducting a criminal and administrative investigation into possible misconduct of a Durham police officer. The investigation was initiated by the Durham Police Department and has been ongoing."

He also said "due to personnel privacy laws, limited information can be released at this point in the investigation."

Chief Lopez did not say if there was another law enforcement agency aiding in the investigation.
