Two schools close due to lack of water

PERSON COUNTY

Person County school officials said they released students at 11 a.m. at Oak Lane Elementary School in Hurdle Mills and North End Elementary School in Roxboro.

Frozen pipes forced water to be cut to both buildings and officials said classes could not continue. There was no water for food preparation in the cafeteria or for bathrooms.

The low temperature in Person Tuesday morning was just under 20 degrees.

Officials didn't have word on any water damage in the building.
