Local church trying to bring Haitian orphans to NC

A local church is trying to bring a group of ten orphans from Haiti to North Carolina.

Horne Memorial United Methodist Church in Clayton founded the Ryan Epps Home for Children in Haiti. The building was damaged in last week's earthquake and the children have been living outdoors since then.

There also are concerns over the children's food supply running out.

The church said it is filling out paperwork to try to legally bring the children to NC. The temporary status would allow them to stay here for up to a year.
