A chilly morning and some wet roads led to a while ride for a handful of Triangle motorists.Raleigh and Cary police worked multiple accidents on Triangle bridges Saturday morning.

The Aviation Parkway bridge over I-540 was completely closed for a time after five cars piled up on the bridge. One lane soon re-opened, but traffic was being controlled until ice on the bridge melted

Police also totally closed the New Hope bridge over US-64 because of ice.

Accidents were reported across the region, but nobody was seriously hurt, and vehicles suffered mostly minor to moderate damage.

Officials remind drivers that bridges and overpasses often freeze before roadways, and to drive cautiously in cold weather.
