Budget could force library to close

GARNER Dozens upset residents met with the mayor of Garner Thursday night to discuss the library's future.

"We are going to circulate more petitions, increase the number of emails and letter writing campaign and whatever they come up with tonight," Garner Mayor Ronnie Williams said. "We want the county folks to tell us they are tired of seeing us and we are going to save your library."

The library system is coming up with several plans to trim money from the budget, but in the end county commissioners will make the decision.

The Southeast Regional Library gets about 780,000 visitors every year.
