Fire truck, SUV collide in Raleigh

RALEIGH

Around 7:45 a.m. Friday, a truck from Fire Station 1 was traveling on South Dawson Street headed to a call on Capital Boulevard when it collided with a vehicle.

The crash happened at the intersection of South Dawson and West Martin streets.

According to the fire chief at the scene, a firefighter pulled a muscle in his chest and was transported to the hospital.

No fire was discovered at the location of the original call.

The ladder truck involved in Friday's wreck is the substitute for the tiller truck that was destroyed last year in a wreck on South Dawson Street.
