Officer-involved shooting in Durham

DURHAM

Authorities confirmed late Saturday afternoon that officers responded to a sound of shots at 1:41 p.m. near Juliette Drive and Rosaline Lane. The officers confronted a male with a handgun in the 100 block of Rosaline Lane and the male was shot. The male, whose name is not being released at this time, was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Multiple eyewitnesses told ABC 11 early in the afternoon that Durham police had exchanged gunfire with a suspect, and that the suspect was shot and arrested.

The incident will be investigated by the Durham Police Department's Professional Standards Unit and the State Bureau of Investigation, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
