Police say there appears to be no foul play, but his body has been sent to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
Wake County officials are handling the case.
Authorities issued a Silver Alert for the 57-year-old on January 21, because they said he may have been suffering from some type of cognitive impairment.
He was last seen on Greencastle Court in Raleigh wearing a black hat, black puffy coat, blue jeans and brown suede boots with fur.
