Shooting victim found in wrecked car

DURHAM It happened just before 9 p.m. on Monday.

When authorities arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Rayshaun Cotton, had been shot several times and was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Police say Cotton was driving westbound on Holloway Street when he was shot. Witnesses say he was being chased by a second vehicle, which is described as a light-colored, box-style vehicle similar to an Oldsmobile Cutlass.

The second vehicle may have been damaged in the crash.

There is no description of the suspect at this time.
