Cary officer crashes into house

A Cary police officer was not seriously injured after crashing his SUV into a house just after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Cary Police Department, the officer clocked a speeder on Maynard Road near Kildaire Farm Road and then made a 180 degree turn to catch the driver. While making the turn, he hit the corner of a house at Southwest Maynard Road and Pond Street.

The officer was taken to WakeMed, treated and released. The SUV was totaled.

Cary police are not releasing any additional information at this time, but the North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating.
