Playboy shown on kids channels

RALEIGH, NC

The cable company apologized for the mistake and blamed it on a technical problem. Time Warner Director of Communications Melissa Buscher told ABC11 a piece of equipment failed. It should have gone to a black screen and it didn't.

Channel 552 "Kids On Demand" and Channel 555 "Preschool On Demand" were affected. Buscher said parents called in with concerns around 6:15 a.m. It took until about 8:15 to find the source of the problem and fix it.

"Once viewers selected one of these channels, in the video screen on the right were previews for Playboy programming. Once parents selected one of the kid-friendly shows on the list the correct show would air," Buscher explained.

Channels 552 and 555 are only available to customers who have digital service. Buscher said the problem didn't impact all digital cable viewers but some in parts of Cary, Morrisville, Garner, Goldsboro and possibly parts of Wilson and Johnston County got the incorrect programming.

"We deeply regret this problem, especially since these are channels devoted to children's programming which are very popular with kids and parents," said Buscher. "We took calls from concerned parents and completely understand their concerns."
