"When I gave my notice, I asked when I would receive my deposit, and they said they needed proof I paid my deposit," Boykin recalled.
Boykin got that proof by getting the original check that she wrote back in 2002 to Heritage House - the company that owned the complex then - for the deposit. Even with that proof, she says management at Clinton House told her she wouldn't get the deposit back.
"They said Clinton House was not responsible for what Heritage House did," said Boykin.
ABC11 Eyewitness News I-Team Troubleshooter Diane Wilson got in touch with Clinton House. An employee said she wasn't familiar with Boykin, but when we refreshed her memory, she said she would pass our concerns along to her manager.
That same day, Boykin got a call asking for her address.
"The next day, I received the check from Clinton House for $380 dollars," said Boykin. "Just to make sure if you have any problems call Diane Wilson or e-mail her."
ABC11 never heard back from the Clinton House manager for comment on this story.
