Durham police are looking for the man that shot a student outside a barbershop on Wednesday afternoon on South Alston Avenue near Sherman Street. Authorities say a 24-year-old student at North Carolina Central University was cooking and selling jerk chicken outside LeWayne's Barbershop around 3:45 p.m. when a man approached him.

The man fired several shots at the victim and fled the scene in a gray, older model minivan.

Investigators believe the incident may have been an attempted robbery. The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s with a brush-style haircut.

The victim was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Chappell at 560-4415, ext. 29311 or CrimeStoppers at 683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases and callers never have to identify themselves.
