Deputies got the call around 7 a.m. Sunday about a shooting at 85 Mobley Street in Roanoke Rapids.
Authorities say 55-year-old Michael Wayne Davis was killed, and they are searching for 55-year-old Richard Demello.
Deputies say Demello and Davis knew each other.
Demello is believed to be driving Davis' 1998 blue Plymouth neon with a spoiler - possibly with N.C. tag YWZ-2442.
He may be in the Harnett County area. He also has connections in Rhode Island and Missouri.
