Girl stops car as mom has seizure

DURHAM Monica Allen says she was driving on University Drive when things got hazy. She couldn't see colors or what direction the cars were traveling. Her two daughters were in the car with her.

Allen's 11-year-old daughter Brianna prevented the situation from getting a lot worse.

"I said 'Brianna, mommy can't see, I cannot see,'" she said. "'I need you to look for me and tell me when it's okay for me to turn, when the cars stop coming.'"

"I knew that my little sister couldn't do anything, and I knew that my mom couldn't do anything. So, I was the only one they could depend on," Brianna Allen said.

She says she put the car in park and called her father. She also flagged down other drivers for help.

Monica Allen says she spent two days at Duke Hospital after doctors determined that she did, in fact, have a seizure.
