New Rolesville high school won't open for 4 years

RALEIGH

That's two years later than school officials had hoped to open a new school in the northeastern part of the county, but switching building sites has become costly in both in time and money.

The original site near the intersection of Highway 401 and Forestville road in Raleigh was set to open in 2012. But that site drew a lot of criticism - both in terms of the cost of the land to extra costs for rock removal and road improvements.

Residents also didn't want the extra traffic disrupting their quiet neighborhood.

The board will decide on a new location in Rolesville next month. It still has to be approved by the county commission.
