Officer-involved shooting reported in Durham

DURHAM Officers were dispatched to an overdose/suicide threats call at 4:37 p.m. in the 600 block of East Geer Street.

Officers confronted Joseph Cameron Pence, 44, and Pence was shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident will be investigated by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Durham Police Department's Professional Standards Unit and Criminal Investigations Division, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
