Johnston County lifts water restriction

SMITHFIELD Water levels in the plant's tanks returned to normal Friday afternoon.

The conservation request initially came Thursday afternoon, after water treatment workers accidentally hit an old pipe, causing it to shift.

They were in the process of installing a new pipe at the time.

Customers in Clayton, Four Oaks, Princeton, and Kenly - about 6,300 residents in all - were affected by the conservation request.

However, no major service disruptions were reoprted.
