Shooting leads to police car, ambulance collision

RALEIGH Emergency crews were responding to the 2900 block of Basswood Drive around 1 a.m. when the accident happened.

Police say one of their cruisers and a Wake County EMS ambulance were both responding with lights and sirens, when they crashed into each other at Creech Road and Slippery Elm Drive.

Occupants in both vehicles complained of soreness but did not suffer major injuries.

The police cruiser had to be towed from the scene.

Four people were taken into custody for the shooting the units were responding to - and the victim is said to have been shot in the leg, suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects were identified as Dondre Glover, 21, Treveris Coward, 18, Wayne Mitchell, 20, and Joneka Glover, 21, all of Raleigh.

Each is charged with two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, firing into an occupied dwelling, and injury to private property.
