Two students killed in Fayetteville crash

FAYETTEVILLE

The teens were killed Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville at the intersection of Camden and Cumberland roads. Police say 18-year-old Kaleb Valliant ran a stop sign and his SUV was struck by a car.

Valliant, and his passenger, 18-year-old Thadius Markle, were transported to the hospital but died from their injuries.

The teens were students at Hoke County High School in Raeford. A Facebook memorial page has been created in their memories.

Alyandra White knew Valliant from the second grade.

"Talkative. He was hilarious and he always had a great spirit. And, he kept himself well and he loved everybody," she said.

Grief councelors at the school have seen more than 300 students. They're giving them a chance to express their emotions in a number of ways.

"They're working on some really great cards and some artwork and different kinds of memorials that they are working on. So I think that's going to help them to be able to cope with the loss," explained Student Support Services Director Peggy Owens.

Police have not filed any charges in the wreck.
