According to Roanoke Rapids police, officers first got a call at 11:13pm Friday, to respond to 311 Highway 158.
When they arrived on scene, they found Maxine McCrary, 92, and her daughter Nancy Burgess, 65, "brutally murdered," according to Chief Jeff Hinton.
Police say robbery was likely the motive for the murders. They have arrested Tony Maurice Gorham, 28, for the crimes.
